Emergency plumbingPlumbing
From a dripping tap to the full plumbing for a new bathroom or kitchen, our engineers find the cause, fix it properly and leave the work tidy. Free quotes for planned work, and help 24 hours a day when something goes wrong.
Small faults waste water and money, and some get worse quietly. A running toilet can use more water in a day than the rest of the household, and a weeping joint under a bath can rot a floor for months before anyone notices.
Damp patches, a water meter that keeps turning, or a boiler that keeps losing pressure usually mean a hidden leak. We work methodically: isolating sections of pipework, checking pressure drop, using moisture and thermal readings, and only then lifting the floorboard or opening the wall that needs it. That keeps damage to decoration to a minimum. For urgent leaks, see emergency plumbing.

We carry out the plumbing for new and refitted bathrooms, shower rooms, wet rooms and kitchens: moving and extending supply and waste pipes, fitting baths, showers, basins, toilets and sinks, and connecting dishwashers and washing machines.
Showers deserve particular care. The right shower depends on your hot water system: a combi boiler, a vented cylinder with a cold tank, or an unvented cylinder all behave differently. We check the pressure and flow you actually have before recommending a mixer, a pumped shower or an electric shower, so it performs as expected.
If you are using a separate kitchen fitter or tiler, we coordinate with them on first and second fix so the pipework is in the right place before walls are closed up.
Slow sinks, gurgling plugholes and toilets that rise before draining are signs of a developing blockage. We clear blocked sinks, basins, baths, showers and toilets, and internal waste and soil pipes, and we check the gradient and venting when the same blockage keeps returning.
In tenements and blocks of flats, the main soil stack and the drains in the back court are usually shared. If the blockage is in a shared section, we will explain where it is so you can involve your neighbours or factor.
Fats, wipes and cotton buds cause most of the blockages we clear. Kitchen fat should be cooled and put in the bin, and only toilet paper should go down the toilet. Before winter, insulate pipes in lofts and unheated spaces and drain outside taps. Knowing where your stopcock is, and checking it turns, is the single most useful thing any household can do.
Often, yes. Low pressure can come from a partly closed or failing stopcock, an old narrow supply pipe, a blocked filter or a fault in a shower or tap. We test pressure and flow at the stopcock first to find out whether the problem is inside your property or in the supply.
Yes. Lead pipework is still found in some homes built before 1970. We can replace the internal pipework. The supply pipe outside your property may be your responsibility or Scottish Water's, depending on where it runs, and we will explain the options.
Usually, as long as it suits your water system. Send us the model and a photo of your boiler or cylinder, and we will confirm before the visit.
