Problem finder
Tell us what is wrong. We will tell you what to do next.
Answer one or two questions and get clear first steps, how urgent it is, and the quickest way to reach us. Nothing you choose is stored or sent anywhere.
What is happening?
Can you turn the water off at the stopcock?
Is anyone at home elderly, unwell or very young?
Is it your only toilet, or is water backing up?
Stop the water first
- Look under the kitchen sink, near the front door, or where the water pipe enters. In flats it may be in a hall cupboard or on the common stair.
- Open the cold taps and flush toilets to drain the pipes.
- Keep away from wet electrics.
- Phone us and we will talk you through it.
Good, the damage has stopped spreading
- Leave the water off and catch any drips.
- Photograph the damage if you may claim on insurance.
- Phone us to arrange a repair at the earliest time available.
We will treat this as urgent
- Check the boiler has power and note any fault code or pressure reading.
- Use safe portable heating meanwhile, and keep the person warm.
- Phone us straight away.
Let us diagnose the fault
- Check the boiler's power switch and pressure gauge.
- Try one reset as the manual describes. If it locks out again, stop.
- Phone us with the make, model and any fault code.
Low pressure and fault codes
- Most boilers want 1 to 1.5 bar when cold.
- If pressure keeps dropping, there is probably a leak that needs finding.
- Try our interactive pressure gauge to check your reading.
We will get it cleared
- Stop using the toilet, sinks and appliances that drain into it.
- Do not use chemical drain cleaners if water is standing.
- Phone us to arrange a visit.
A planned visit will sort it
- Avoid putting fat, wipes or cotton buds down the drains.
- Email us what is affected and we will book a convenient time.
Tell us about your project
- Send photos of the space and the current boiler or fittings.
- Tell us the number of bedrooms and bathrooms.
- We reply with options and a free, no-obligation quote.
Annual landlord gas safety check
- Email the property address and when the current record expires.
- Tell us who will give the engineer access.
- We carry out the check and send you the record.
Do not phone us. Phone 0800 111 999
- Leave the property and do not use switches or flames.
- Phone the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999, any time.
- ESCO Plumbing™ does not provide gas leak services. Once the supply is made safe, we can carry out repairs.
